ADOPTION

Adoption fees are to help offset the initial cost of getting the kitten ready for adoption. The fees do not completely reimburse the costs incurred per kitten.

All adoption fees are final, no refunds!

All kittens will have the initial vet care listed above and a single dose of Revolution at the appropriate age.

Kittens Under 12 Weeks of Age: The Adopter must sign an agreement to have the kitten's rabies shot by 16 weeks of age (per Texas State Law) and at the Adopter's sole expense, and to have the kitten spayed or neutered and at the Adopter's sole expense. The youngest a kitten can be sterilized and receive a rabies shot is 12 weeks at Animal Protection League (APL).

Kittens Over 12 Weeks of Age: Will have had rabies hot (one-year) and been spayed/neutered upon adoption.

It is recommended that the Adopter get the kitten tested for FIV/FeLV after 12 weeks of age. This is not included in the adoption fee.

It is recommended that the Adopter continue the monthly Revolution Plus preventative, which protects against fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms, and heartworm disease.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid ID, and obtain permission from the landlord (if renting). Additionally, all adults in the home must agree to adopt the kitty. A home visit may be necessary before finalizing the adoption to ensure a safe and loving environment.
  • Adopted kitties must live indoors at least 50% of the time.
  • All cats in the Adopter's home must be sterilized and have current rabies shots.

Help Support our Current Kittens in Our Care

It costs a lot to take in kittens and get them the initial care needed to be adopted out. The cost to get initial care per kitten depends on the health of the kitten upon arrival.

INITIAL CARE: (Our cost is roughly $200-300 per cat to get ready for adoption)

  • Upon arrival, kittens spend the first two weeks in quarantine and are given vitamins and supplements added to their daily food for immune support.

  • Initial Exam: Each kitten receives an initial exam with our established veterinarian, which includes fecal test to check for worms and parasites, including coccidia, and any necessary medications and treatments. The actual cost per kitten varies on their health and status, but averages around $120-200 per kitten, not including the below costs. Some kittens required emergency vet care, follow-up exams, and additional testing and treatment, which can easily add up to several hundreds of dollars, even into the thousands of dollars.

  • Preventative: In addition to the initial exam and care, each kitten over six weeks old receives a single dose of Revolution Plus preventative, which costs $35 per kitten and lasts for only one month. Revolution Plus protects against fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, and heartworm disease. Kittens that remain in our care will continue with monthly treatment until they are adopted out. At that point, it is the sole cost and responsibility of the Adopter to continue treatment.

SPAY/NEUTER:

Kittens at least 12 weeks of age will be spayed or neutered and given a one-year rabies shot through Animal Protection League (APL). APL is typically booked out 1-2 months in advance. APL's cost for services are $52 for neutering/one-year rabies and $62 for spaying/one-year rabies shot.
